Education, culture, social life, the environment and heritage are the Banque Populaire's preferred fields for its sponsoring and patronage activities. The citizen's Bank, it is involved nationally to promote the socio-cultural environment, in particular through its Fondation Banque Populaire, recognised as having public utility by the Decree of 09 January 1996.
FIELD OF EDUCATION
The Banque Populaire Group created two school units at Agadir in 1984, then Tanger in 1997, in response to the expectations of compatriots residing abroad and wishing to integrate their children in the Moroccan socio-cultural milieu. For this purpose it created the Fondation Banque Populaire to dispense teaching tailored to the specific needs of children originating from various European countries, as well as from Morocco, to contribute to integration in Moroccan society. The Foundation is also involved in other fields of education, through donations of books rewarding students of all the Kingdom's academies, or even contributions and participations during cultural and/or scientific seminars initiated by colleges and other universities.
FIELD OF CULTURE
Since its creation, the Foundation has diversified its activities in the field of culture. Involved in large-scale activities, it now enjoys a national reputation in the promotion of Arts and Culture and is an indispensable partner for Moroccan creators in different disciplines. The Foundation's name is associated with more than forty festivals throughout the Kingdom.
FIELD OF THE ENVIRONMENT
The Group's commitment to environmental protection illustrates its involvement in promoting Morocco's sustainable development. Since the launch of the national Clean Beaches Programme, the Foundation has been mobilised as part of an exemplary partnership with the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Protection of the Environment, for supporting 4 beaches on the Moroccan coast. Committed to civic values and activities of national interest, the Foundation takes action for the cleanliness, development, safety and activities of these beaches to raise them to international standards. The Haouzia beach was awarded the “Blue Flag" label in 2006, 2007 and 2008. The Foundation also participates in major heritage preservation projects, such as the rehabilitation of the Oudayas Gallery in Rabat and restoration of fountains in imperial cities.
SOCIAL FIELD
Since 2005, the Foundation has initiated a nation-wide literacy campaign for its micro-credit customers and employees of SME/SMIs who are customers of the Banques Populaires Régionales. This literacy campaign illustrates the convergence of the missions of the Group's three foundations and promotes synergy of actions undertaken.
